Quality Engineer required for a leading aerospace precision engineering company based in Plymouth. The successful candidate will support the internal audit schedule, using problem solving techniques and thereby promoting sustained improvement by example and active involvement. To ensure that our client product and manufacturing processes meet with the company’s Quality standards




  • To work as an integral part of the Quality Engineering team to ensure that all audits are completed in line with their planned schedule
  • To take an active part in promoting the Quality Planning Process – Liaising with the customer service, applications engineering and manufacturing engineering groups – in order to ensure that customers expectations are understood and communicated; and to verify that requirements have been subsequently realized
  • To identify and lead Quality improvement projects; ensuring completion in a timely manner
  • To promote best practice in the use of thorough and robust techniques
  • To use near miss analysis, trend analysis and lessons learned principles in order to facilitate the identification and implementation of robust preventive actions
  • To train others in Quality tools and practices as necessary


Training, Experience, Education required


  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject or demonstrates the relevant experience and/or recognised by a relevant chartered body
  • Successfully lead and implemented six sigma projects, trained to Green belt or above
  • Formerly trained as an internal auditor with further experience of auditing at suppliers premises an advantage
  • Direct and active involvement in the use and intent of quality improvement tools such as Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), First Article Inspection Report (FAIR), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), 5Y’s and 8D’s is essential; together with a detailed and current understanding of quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100 and/or TS16949
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) are required, with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Experience and knowledge of Project management techniques
