We are searching for an ambitious, highly driven and self-motivated Business Development Manager who is looking for a long term career in consultative sales. This business publishes an award winning magazine, hosting some of the most significant industry events in the UK.

The Birmingham office is one of seven busy offices across the UK, it has seen significant growth in recent years and as such they are hunting for a strong, confident and well seasoned Business Development Account Manager, who can take the leap forward with them.

The business has been well established as the market leader from a commercial perspective. Established in 1991 and owned by its own management, this organisation has serious growth ambitions, so you will need to be focused, driven and of course competitive to succeed.  

You will be working with board directors, partners, business owners and senior figures within the public and corporate sector. Some warm clients may be gifted for account management but the majority of your work will consist of bringing on new business, then managing and developing those relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the regional sales director
  • Developing your own territory
  • Conducting sales visits each week as well as developing your desk through other in office sales activities
  • Taking new products to market when they are launched
  • Securing advertising, sponsorship and leaflet revenues for the magazines
  • Sponsorship for a range of events and banner advertising and sponsorship of online products
  • Increasing revenues from existing clients and securing support from new clients through strong consultative sales skills

  • Strong track record of achieving stretch targets
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Working well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent presentation skills in a business to business environment
  • Confidence when working with Board Directors and Senior Level Management
  • Resilient, dedicated and hard working, both within a team and independently
  • Successful in both Account Management and New Business Development
  • Ability to close business, both face to face and over the phone

This is a well known business within its sector and if you put the work in, you will be rewarded generously. This position is Monday to Friday, 9:00 - 5:30 and is office based however there will be an expectation that you attend client visits on a weekly basis. You will be working in a highly target driven environment with your own personal development program.
