Carpentry Coordinator (Marine / Boat Building)

My client is a leading luxury yacht manufacturer based in the South West, who is currently looking for an experienced carpenter with a solid background/experience within the marine industry / boat building to join their team acting as first point of call for carpentry technical support for difficult carpentry problems. The Carpentry Coordinator will provide guidance and advice to carpenters when issues arise and will be solution focused with the ability to think outside of the box to ensure that issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Carpentry Coordinator (Marine / Boat Building):

  • Manage all production, quality and aftersales carpentry queries for boats in series production
  • Be first point of call for carpentry technical support
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that boats are built to the required work instructions / standards / legislation
  • Support outside crew for technical queries
  • Support design reviews to ensure production carpentry issues are considered
  • Update and control of general work instruction
  • Support purchasing departments with running changes and cost down activities
  • Ensure that that correct procedures are adhered to for the best possible quality and build to customer expectations and specifications
  • Support aftersales teams by providing guidance and advice to resolve customer complaints and warranty issues (which may include overseas travel)

Skills Requirements for the Carpentry Coordinator (Marine / Boat Building):

  • 5+ years experience in carpentry within the marine industry / boat building is essential
  • Computer literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to communicate at all levels (internal and external facing)
  • Able to work under pressure to tight deadlines

Please note, the Carpentry Coordinator (Marine / Boat Building) must have a full driving liscence and own transport to be able to travel to multiple sites
