Creative Designer (Luxury)

My client is a leading luxury yacht manufacturer based in the South West, who is currently looking for a Creative Designer with a strong background working as an FF&E designer within a luxury or high end business.  The Creative Designer will be involved from design concept stage and will have an eye for detail and high end style, focusing on ensuring all finishes are of the highest design standard (fixtures, furniture, flooring, lighting, upholstery etc.).


A confident hands-on team player, highly organised with good people skills, candidates will need experience of leading projects within a similar design scope such as yacht, high-end residential or boutique hotel interior design and have exceptional time management skills. The Creative Designer will take responsibility for projects from conception to completion and manage a team whilst documenting all specifications accurately and efficiently. Candidates will have the ability to juggle various projects concurrently and work well under pressure, ensuring the smooth running of projects by providing timely and efficient support between the development office and production team.


Key Responsibilities of the Creative Designer (Luxury):

  • Providing creative inspiration and direction at the beginning of projects
  • Sourcing, sampling and budgeting FF&E designs
  • Specifying all surface finishes
  • Mock up, detailing and final execution of upholstered furniture, linings, features and seating designs
  • Overseeing the execution and delivery of all soft finishes, panel covering and upholstering within the business
  • Documenting FF&E design on a variety of project types
  • Producing presentation materials and coordinating FF&E designs with vendors and other resources
  • Selection, coordination, and documentation of interior architectural finishes
  • Organise and maintain the FF&E library


Skills Requirements for the Creative Designer (Luxury):

  • A strong degree in interior or textile design or equivalent in education or experience
  • Minimum four years of working experience in high-end interior design projects in yacht, hotel or residential projects
  • Experience with AutoCAD, InDesign, SketchUp, Illustrator, Photoshop, and hand sketching
  • Demonstratable design flair and creativity with good organization, communication and presentation skills, self-motivated and be able to meet deadlines
  • Excellent presentation, conceptual and visualisation skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of upholstering and panelling fabrics for both interior and exterior use would be useful
  • Extensive knowledge in interior surface finishes and in sizes, proportions and fabrication of furnishings
  • Extensive knowledge of suppliers and manufacturers
  • An awareness and a keen interest in global design trends for interior and exterior living spaces
