One of our prestigious engineering clients are looking for an experienced Goods Inward Inspector to join a highly skilled team based in Plymouth.

Purpose of the role;

Inspection process to ensure conformance to specification of the materials to be used in the production process. Checking documentation and booking-in of goods. Providing information to suppliers where goods fail to meet the required specification and working with suppliers to improve quality.

  • To abide by relevant health and safety laws ensuring safe practices are adhered to at all times
  • To ensure equipment used is safe and within calibration dates
  • To ensure regular housekeeping is undertaken in the inspection area and it is safe and tidy.
  • To ensure compliance to Company procedures.

Qualification and knowledge required:

Knowledge of mechanical measurement techniques.

IPC610 training/experience.

Ability to read engineering drawings.

Knowledge of manual handling

Ability to use a computerized stock control system

Must be literate, numerate and physically fit

Must be flexible and able to work to deadlines

Must be able to work efficiently and accurately

Knowledge of the Business

Knowledge of supply chain management in high technology industry sector, preferable electronics. Experience of working in or supplying to automotive industry sectors is an advantage.

Leadership – Management or Technical

Leading change introducing new ‘lean’ processes in the supply chain management.

Developing a team through rigorous application of best practice.

Continuous focus on improvement and measurement of performance.

Problem Solving

Knowledge 6-Sigma and Lean problem-solving techniques such as 5-Whys, Fish-bone etc.

Experience of leading problem-solving teams would be an advantage.

Area & Nature of Impact

Introduction of new supply chain and materials management techniques to ensure the prompt delivery of materials, of the correct quality, to the manufacturing process.

Ensuring production is not stopped or delayed due to missing components.

Interpersonal & Communication Skills

Leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills as continuous change will be required to ensure success. The ability to work within a matrix structure.
