One of our prestigious clients are currently looking for a Graduate Project Accountant to join their diverse team based in Plymouth.
The objective of this position, reporting to the Project Accounting Manager, is to perform detailed analysis of the financial performance of the various engineering and production projects undertaken by the business; working with the various Project Managers to achieve an appreciation of the underlying reasons for variances and making recommendations where necessary.
Prepare monthly Contract Status Reports for each project, with commentary on variances as required, ensuring sound understanding by working closely with the Project Managers.
Calculate revenue and margin estimates for input into the monthly P&L forecast.
Integral role in the month end closing process ensuring projects are traded at the correct margin % and reconciling total sales and margin to detailed listings by projects with commentary or variances against forecast, plan, prior year.
Perform Balance Sheet reconciliations timely and accurately with follow up on any aged or unusual items.
Assist in preparation for internal and external audits including SOX.
Write and update Standard Job Instructions as required to ensure complete and current documentation exists for all tasks.
Participate with continuous improvement initiatives.
Work closely with the wider Project Team to provide support and cover where required.
Skills and Experience
Qualified AAT or part qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA
Enthusiastic, proactive and with sound communication skills.
Able to work on own initiative.
Strong planning and organisational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Experience working with ERP systems ideally SAP.
Advanced user of Microsoft Excel
Experience of PowerPoint and Word advantageous.
