We are searching for an experienced HR Advisor, this position has come about due to expansion and if selected you will be an integral member of the HR team. You will participate in and contribute to the HR meetings, HR Strategy and initiatives and Business Objectives. Your main duties will entail recruitment and supporting the training of new starters, you will need to work well independently as well as part of a team and think on your feet to do well in this role. While support will be given, we are hoping to find a confident self starter who is strategic and used to fast paced, independent working.

As the first point of contact for the management team and employees, you will both advise and support on employee related matters and ensure a quick and accurate response on the best approach. Providing a seamless and efficient HR service, you will provide comprehensive, pragmatic support to managers and employees across the site, advising on a range of employee relations issues as well as employment law, policy development, recruitment, training and performance management issues. With an organised approach, you will be accustomed to working on a variety of HR procedures and will maintain comprehensive reports. Staying abreast of HR best practice is an essential part of the role, as you will implement changes in accordance with legislation, so you must have up to date knowledge of Employment Law, HR practices and procedures.

Duties to include:

  • Co-ordinate and record site training activities
  • Working collaboratively as part of a small, friendly HR team
  • Providing support, advice and actively participate in the recruitment and selection of both internal and external staff, in line with the recruitment policy
  • Working closely with all levels of the management team, providing accurate and professional guidance, coaching and support on the full range of HR activities (inclusive of all policies and procedures, terms and conditions of employment, absence management, restructuring, performance management, etc)
  • Providing support, advice and guidance on investigations, disciplinary and grievance matters, in conjunction with a member of the management team, ensuring compliance with relevant policies
  • Supporting the Senior HR Advisor with developing, implementing and maintaining both site specific and UK based HR policies and procedures to ensure effective, fair and consistent management of staff
  • Ensure departmental records are maintained to meet the needs of legislative bodies and company certification requirements i.e. Immigrations, ISO audits, employment law, etc
  • Coordinate and help deliver appropriate and effective Induction programmes to all new starters
  • Manage the process following completion of a training activity – ensuring the relevant paperwork has been updated and inputted into the training system
  • Supporting the Senior HR Advisor in the process of reviewing standards and processes within the HR function ensuring processes are value adding and standards are being followed

  • Experience of implementing training systems
  • Highly self-motivated, proactive and willing to go the extra mile
  • Good sound knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice
  • High level of computer literacy Microsoft office use of HR / T & A systems
  • Excellent communications skills – a clear and concise communicator with the ability to present ideas and opinions at all levels (both verbal and written) in a constructive manner & not afraid to challenge the status quo
  • Excellent team working skills, ability to work within a team at all levels and be a positive role model, quickly building strong effective working relationships
  • Influential, has the ability to gain the buy in and commitment from management and employees to adhere to policies and processes
  • Confidence to take the lead in driving and progressing training and projects
  • Arranging meetings and setting project targets
  • Exceptional level of organisation

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Graduate calibre fully CIPD qualified
  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing / logistics environment
  • Experience of supporting and liaising with apprentices/apprenticeship providers/Levy system
  • Certificate in Training Practice/NVQ/Train the trainer
