Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Buyer, the primary function of this role is to support the day-to day purchasing and expediting of raw materials for a busy Plymouth site, ensuring the effectiveness of the manufacturing operation. You will need to be available to start work as soon as possible in order to learn the role from the current person in this position. Initially temporary but potential to become permanent for the right person.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Raising purchase orders based on MPS/MRP demand
  • Liaising with suppliers to expedite orders
  • Maintaining up-to-date delivery dates within the ERP system
  • Monitor consignment stock and Kanban levels
  • Liaise with planning to ensure material supply meets demand
  • Support in monitoring supplier performance
  • Assist in supplier on boarding
  • Communicate with Planning on material delays

Essential Experience / Qualifications and Attributes Required:

  • Microsoft Excel – Good working knowledge
  • Previous purchasing experience
  • Expediting skills
  • Full understanding and working knowledge of Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Business Administration experience
  • Understanding of ERP/MRP systems
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Able to communicate at all levels throughout the business, both verbally and written
  • Can use the telephone to liaise with suppliers


  • CIPS Qualification
  • Previous purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment
