Job Description

As the QSHE Lead, you will be responsible for leading and delivering all activity in relation to of quality control and assurance, Health & Safety and the Environment across the operation; collaborating closely with SHE and Quality teams within the wider business and driving a step change at a site level as the operation grows.

You will lead and deliver on all Quality, Health & Safety and the Environment for the operation, collaborating with the wider Quality and SHE teams to deliver high performance and embed the latest thinking and best practice. Lead efforts to identify areas for improvement in the manufacturing process and implementing strategies to enhance overall product quality and operational efficiency in collaboration with the Group.

In order to be successful, you will demonstrate excellent relationship building skills, with the ability to collaborate with teams across the business and influence at all levels. You will be comfortable moving between operating strategically and hands on delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with other departments such as engineering, production, and supply chain management to improve processes, resolve quality-related issues, and drive overall quality.
  • Manage day-to-day systems integrity and compliance by problem solving, auditing, training, and updating documents and records.
  • Lead and control the ISO 9001 accreditation, managing internal and external audits and ensuring required standards are met and maintained.
  • Monitoring customer and supplier feedback and addressing any quality-related concerns or issues promptly to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain strong client relationships and implementing improvement plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Liaise and track customer NCRs providing and daft, oversee and implement all required SOP procedures to identify deviations from industry quality standards.
  • Be a conduit for Continuous Improvement within the operation working closely with the group Manager.
  • Identify and investigate all QHSE issues/incidents across the operation and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Report on all significant non-compliance (accidents/RIDDORS, deviations/ NCRs) and provide monthly updates to the business.
  • Manage and maintain the Site QHSE Management System in line with ISO 9001/14001 accreditations.
  • Develop and embed internal process to ensure we remain compliant with environmental standards for waste and resource management liaising with the production team to track and drive improvements towards ISO14001 accreditation.
  • Write/support/ review method statements and risk assessments and ensure regulatory compliance i.e. COSH, Fire Safety

Essential Experience / Qualifications and Attributes Required:

  • Chartered membership of the Institution (CMIOSH) – Certified Safety Professional (CSP) (or equivalent).
  • Lead Auditor Qualification.
  • Previous QSHE experience in a manufacturing environment and at a leadership level ideally with a chemistry background.
  • Proactive, collaborative and pragmatic mind set.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of auditing including ISO 9001:2015.
  • Competent in use of computer software packages and quality management systems such as TROPOS.
  • Experience of root cause analysis and lean methodology.
